The Board

Angelica P.
Angelica is originally from Västervik and has lived in Massachusetts for 10 years now. She currently lives in Maynard with her American husband Greg, their two children, Sebastian '03 and Linnea '06, and their 2 dogs Bella och Winston.
By day she works as Affiliate Marketing Manager for Sweden and Norway at Everest Gaming in Cambridge. On the weekends she spends her time driving Sebastian and Linnea to various activities or playing flyball with Bella and Winston.
Sebastian joined Swedish School Spring 2006 and is a Blåbär this year. Linnea just started Swedish School and is a Smultron.

"The Swedish School gives me the chance to show the children that it is not just me who talks that funny. It's also incredibly rewarding to be part of the Swedish School and it has helped me and the children to be more active in the Swedish language and Swedish culture."

Annelie S.

Annelie has had her son Alexander in Swedish School since the fall of 2007. "I recommend all Swedish talking families to join; it has been very good for our son's Swedish, and also very fun to get to know other Swedish-speaking families."
Annelie has lived in America since 1988, when she was an exchange student in Wisconsin. She went home and studied in Lund for one year and then she went back to Boston to take her BSBA and MBA.
Annelie has 3 children, Alexander (Blabar), Olivia (Smultron) and Sophia (born oct'08). She grew up in Hässleholm, Skåne - but now when she goes home it is to the Kalmar and Öland area. Annelie has worked for Forrester Research as a project leader for 10 years, but now have maternity leave.
"To be part of the Swedish School Board is exciting and fun".

Treasurer:

Sandro M.

Sandro was born in Stockholm by a Swedish mother and Italian father. Sandro grew up in Sweden, Denmark and Italy, studied in London and worked in Switzerland and the United States. He moved to Boston in 2000. Sandro has two children in the Swedish School. Sandro works in the "private equity" branch. He has been with the Swedish School since Spring 2002 when his daughter started, and helped them move from Needham to Wayland that summer. He has been with the school board since the school year 2002-3, first as a secretary (one year) and since then as treasurer.

PR and Communication:

Helena B.

Helena was born and raised in Åbo, and has lived in America since the mid-1990s. She works with the recruitment and process development within the translation industry. Helena has been active in the Swedish School since Spring 2004 when her daughter started. She has had time for one year as vice-president, three years as chairman and is now with the board in communication. Helena has also substituted one semester for the pre-school.
"It is rewarding to be involved in developing the school. I recommend more parents to become more actively involved!"

Head Teacher:

Kati B.

Kati is from Gothenburg and moved to Boston August 1998 with her family, her husband Leif and their two children, Malin och Kalle. Kati is trained 4-9 teacher in subjects SO och Swedish. Before she moved to Boston she worked as SO- and Swedish teacher for grades 7-9 in "Göteborgs Högre Samskola" for 6 years. Kati has several jobs besides teaching the Viking class at the Swedish School. During the school year she works at Danvers High School as a substitute teacher. She is also a ref for Volleyball. In her spare time, the focus is on family and golf, which takes up most of the time.
Kati began at the Swedish School March 2004. Then we had a total of 12 students in the school, and the preschool was not yet an official part of the school. In September 2007, Kati was appointed head teachers and teachers' representative on the Board. "It's been really fun to be part of the school these last few years and see the school develop explosively, from a small" hobby school" to the widespread activity we have now, with over 70 children aged 3-15 years!"
"The longer I work in the Swedish School, the more I realize how important it is for our students to retain their Swedish language skills and their Swedish culture. I wish that all Swedes who live in the Boston area would send their children to us!"

Library:

Tomas B.

Thomas was born and raised south of Gothenburg and came to the United States and Rhode Island in the early 1990s to study. After being back in Gothenburg for a year, Thomas worked in New York and Singapore in the finance branch for several years.
His children, Max and Karolina, began Swedish School Spring 2006 and have since developed their Swedish language considerably.
Tomas started as PR and communication coordinator and is now with the board working to expand the library and the implementation of the new system.

Substitute:

Anette M.

Anette was born in Småland and raised part there and part in Helsingborg, Skåne. She came to the United States in the late 80’s and went to college for photography in 1992. After her photography studies she met her American husband Sam. Their daughter Emma started Swedish school in the fall of 2008.

Sofia B.
Sofia is originally from Broby, Skåne. She came to Newton 1996 as an au pair. Right now she lives in Brighton with her American husband Eric and their two boys Lance and Zachery. Sofia has worked as a programmer for BostonApartments.com for 10 years.
Lance began Swedish School Fall 2006. "Lance really likes the Swedish school and finds it fun to learn Swedish songs and traditions" Zachery started Swedish School Spring 2009. "He looks forward to going to the Swedish School every week.".
